He/him. Software dev in games, working on my first horror novel (out uhhh, someday), ttrpg enthusiast, cat enjoyer.
100% agree. This is the only place I'm able to find community with other horror writers, and I cherish what Matt's created here.

And also monsters, of course, goopy, tentacley psychological little guys.

It's easy to miss how the ripples we make with our lives affect others, a less melodramatic butterfly effect, but in this case Matt's impact is so easily quantifiable and his presence is dearly missed.

Thank you for hosting today's session. It's not an easy one to facilitate.

This group has grown so much, but Matt never changed. He tended this community like a garden, and its to his credit that it persists even now.

Wednesday's were and are for community, and even if I don't participate as regularly, I always enjoy absorbing everyone's enthusiasm and positivity.

This has all happened so fast, it's hard to believe it's true.
Matt was a wonderful soul, a community builder, and through his passion brought all sorts of folks together weekly, providing structure, friendship, and joy through years where that was very much in short supply
Matt, you will be missed.

Are you familiar with @ergot.bsky.social ? I just recently stumbled upon their website but I'm *obsessed* with all the weird little experimental horror microfics.

His widow, Cat, has invited friends to leave messages and donations in his memory to Macmillan, Matt's chosen charity. I've helped set up a memorial page so please feel free to share this to anyone who knew and loved him.

Move fast and break things, that's the motto. Sometimes those things are people, but what can ya do, if we don't build the torment nexus, someone else will then they'll be rich, not me >:[

Tech has been offloading externalities upon society for so long... Data centers for AI training require so much energy we need more coal plants to power them. Social media has led to conspiracy and radicalization, and now AI chatbots are conducting unhealthy 'therapy' and enabling peoples delusions.

Vote me for senate, instead of compromising my values, I got on a fucking train.
Jesus christ, why did they get into politics? The only thing that makes sense is a public humiliation fetish and I do not consent to your games, Dems!
