About 3/4ths through the second workbook… still doing about 3 or so pages a day. I’m going faster than the book is designed for.
I’m not sure if I will do the third workbook, mostly because I sense I need to move on to other topics. I know I have to start practicing on my own concepts. We’ll see!

Still, while this looks unoriginal, I think this helps a lot with building coordination, and likely speed, with my hand and the pencil.

Moving to Clip Studio on a Huion tablet! It's notably easier to work with... I feel like I have much more control than iPad glass!
I guess I'll have to keep that in mind!

I ordered a set with varying lead hardness, I wonder what it will feel like! A little experiment I guess.

Rough, but I think I’m starting to get impatient trying to make each line surgical. I know normally I’d just consider this an “underdrawing” layer.
I guess traditional artists would just use a lighter lead than HB for “drafting”… maybe I need to find lighter mechanical pencil lead.

From what I understand, assistants are a huge part of the process in both comics and manga. The work gets split up, manga and comic artists also have people like editors and other specialized roles. The mangaka tends to get all the spotlight and fame… but they’re supposedly decently sized teams!

Some of it feels a little harder because I can tell the references were drawn digitally, were probably cleaned up, and likely skip the underdrawing stage I would normally be planning out. So I’m unsure how much it helps with a typical drawing process. My attempt is always going to feel different.
