Thanks to #HistoricScotland, to the fabulous Antonine Guard & all other contributors & volunteers for Saturday’s free Roman #DoorsOpenDays at Kinneil - nearly 800 people saw inside Kinneil House & many more enjoying free activities in museum & outdoors including our guided walks

Church on Sunday ✝️ … Spotted this summer in Panes, Asturias, Spain - Romanesque Church of St John of Ciliergo, with uncanny likeness to Kinneil Kirk & from similar period: ruined in Spanish Civil War, recently restored by local council #historicscotland #celticconnections

Did you know Kinneil House was once a gleaming white? Old postcard for #ThrowbackThursday gives some impression of how differently it might look with its now mostly lost (but some traces survive) white harling!

Kinneil Museum features the remarkable wider heritage of Bo’ness & nearby area - open daily except Tuesdays, 12.30-4pm, free, but under threat of closure next year by Falkirk Council who own the building & historic local collections, & manage the museum & estate - visit soon!

For #InternationalMuseumDay, Kinneil Museum’s old wooden collection ladle, inscribed ‘KL’, used for people of Kinneil, among oldest parishes and place names in Scotland - money was put in open end then collector tipped it to hide & slide coins into closed box next to handle
