It also took about half an hour longer to bake than instructed which is WILD but since the recipe is from 1983 and instructs you to reduce heat after 15 minutes I’m gonna assume my oven is just more efficient and lowers the temp faster?
Overfull pumpkin pie sitting on a baking sheet with burnt splashes bc the recipe made too much filling for the shell and I sloshed it a bit. Also it’s supposed to be that dark, it’s the brown sugar and extra spices.

My library has this 1992 Dianna Wynne Jones novel I’d not heard of before still in circulation and I’m a little in love with how 1992 the cover is

I am bad at flowers but I think the rest are hollyhocks, larkspur, daisies, some tiny purple flowers on a bush that looks maybe vaguely like something my mom has that I can never remember the name of. Oh, and a white climbing frame of yellow roses fanning out behind her head suggestively of religious iconography.

I use the digital loans constantly but this summer I’ve gotten back into reading physical books, and I cannot tell you how much it scratches the shopping itch! As a bonus they even tell me how much I haven’t spent! Libraries are a TREASURE.

I expected this book to have a non traditional structure and it *does* but it’s different from what I thought it would be and I don’t know yet whether I like it or not 🤔 the opening was awkward for me but 120 pages in it’s flowing better and I’m reserving judgement until I see where it goes
