Could also add vegetables to help bulk out the meal and allow it to feed more/last longer.

My personal variations often involve using stuff like Miso paste, which isn't super food desert accessible.

One that is more accessible would be using curry powder, some garlic, and a little bit of paprika alongside a bigger proportion of milk to water for a creamier sauce.

And shell pasta.

One I've always enjoyed is like an adapted homemade hamburger helper. Cook up the sliced up chicken, add to large pan, make roux, add a bunch of stock or water/milk +some kind of seasoning, toss in a bunch of pasta, cover and cook.

Can be adapted to many flavours by changing the seasoning
