reasons for making ocs :]
redid this one as an image because i realized there was more i wanted to say but couldn't fit

i considered doing a few doodles of the wc ocs mentione too but its kind of hard show to the extent of their relationships with only a doodle
I don't think I necessarily have a main reasn for making OCs? I mostly do it for fun and because my brain just never seems to stop coming up with ideas lol I suppose if I had to pick a reason it'd be because I enjoy creating and developing character dynamics and relationships? One of my favorite things in consuming any sort of media has always been exploring the bonds between characters and creating OCs lets me do that with a lot more control and originality. I actually created an entire massive Warrior Cat story with four clans to do this! Sibce there is four clans there's a LOT of characters and they all have certain relationships and personal conflicts with the cats they live with. Its gotten to the point where I spend more time thinking about and developing those rather than the actual plot haha. Another reason for creating OCs, though this regards more fandom based OCs, rather than my fully original ones, is just because I enjoy seeing what sort of original stuff I can come up with and fit into my interests' universes!

My favorite OC design has to be my fursona, Kacey! She was an adopt I bought from Snackcore on Toyhouse. They have always been on of my favorite types of designs ever. Spots, freckles, and speckles are another design aspect I really enjoy so of course upon seeing she she immediately became a dreamie. It has colors I really love, markings I think are fun enough to enjoy drawing not find super complicated, and I think her ears and eyes are really fun and unique as well. My favorite OC is my mascot, Ember! she's actually the sona I created to replace Cloudfeather in 2018. Like Cloudfeather she was another warrior cats sona, initially named Embersplash! [Image depicting one of her earliest reference sheets, captioned "oldest art of her that I can find! made in 2018."] I believe I only used her for a year before I decided to retire her alongside Cloudfeather in 2019. It wasn't until 2022 I decided to bring her back for artfight where she immediately became my most popular drawn character and I decided to keep her around as a mascot again. Since bringing her back I've fallen in love with her again and she's absolutely become my most important and cherished OC. In a way it feels like she's grown up with me and its truly surreal to think I adore her as much, if not more, as I did when I made her at 14. Although her current design is pretty much identical to the design I first made her with, she has been redesigned before! I only used this redesign for a very short period of time but I figured it was worth mentioning anyways. [Image depicting a reference sheet for a redesign of Ember, captioned "ref made for her redesign in 2019!"] This redesign was done back in 2019 as a final attempt at restoring my fading connection with her, unfortunately it didn't work out and I ended up retiring her a little while after. When I brought her back in 2022 I considered using the redesign but ultimately decided not to as I thought the simplicity and uniqueness of her original design was more appealing. Other various funfacts: - It's probably obvious by her markings but she is in fact meant to be a turkish van! They're one of my favorite cat breeds. - Since she was originally a self-insert warriors oc and my favorite character was leafpool, I actually made them girlfriends. To this day I still ship ember with her even if she isn't a warriors oc anymore just because its fun. - As of right now, Ember holds the spot for the character of mine with the most art (136 pieces). - She has $78.70 worth of commissioned artwork! meet cloudfeather!
my oldest & still owned oc is actually a former warriors sona! her name is cloudfeather and i bought her off warriors amino for 10 deviantart points back in december of 2017! i used her actively up for about a year i think? she was the first character i actually made an effort to commission art of and was the first of my characters to reach what i considered a large amount of art pieces (70) i fully retired her some time in 2019 and and although i don't use her anymore she's still one of my most cherished ocs being my first official online sona/mascot.
