I'm pretty new to participating in fandom in any form, and the thought of sharing my ethnic background seemed antithetical to existing in a space like this, which is supposed to be a sort of escapist fantasy. It's the internalized racism talking, 100%.

The fact that so many members of the community are shocked when they find out a furry isn’t white should be viewed as a problem.
