Ohtani insisted on a clause in his contract which essentially guaranteed that AF & ownership remain in place for the 10 years. If Roki were to choose San Diego, he’d in effect be saying; “No idea who the owner is, “I’m good.” Rings? “Uh, don’t care.” History of developing young pitchers? “Pfft!”

That said, the new Dodger is an accomplished hitter in the KBO. You can see the progression as he’s gotten more experience, and he’ll be playing in his age-26 season.
