Just scanning it, the author appears to be using some claims that I dont think are true.
Most glaringly it looks like its claiming the math doesnt account for context.
That's deceptive at best and downright false in many cases.
The math from someone else that he linked may be useful though.

I dont think the conversion % is much different than when you first heard about it.
I dont know what the modifier is, but I would guess that the math on going for 2 includes the success on the first try. Which greatly increases your win probability.
Kicking twice just gets a tie.

His bad games this year came right at the point in the year when everyone was starting to notice how well he was playing.

On the bright side, at least its at night so he wont have -1 stenciled on his chest from sunburn. Then he'd be walking around for weeks with the -1 and no way to explain it.
