there's a great interview with the "Splatterhouse" devs on Shmupilations where they talk about the game's development, their favorite horror movies, etc. theres even horror-themed illustrations of each dev! my fav is the dev who studied sesame seeds in college (below) shmuplations.com/splatterhouse/

After two hours with it, I can safely say Kirby Air Riders is among my top games of the year. Pure fun.
