The only thing I will say is that people had to work really really hard to come up with a use case for blockchain and nfts.

Coming up with use cases for LLMs is very easy. They're just not very good at the high value ones and the low value ones are. Well. Low value.

What does "fighting for princesses" mean in this tweet?

I thought it was all about Not Fighting for Sex Slaves?

(Not that a sex slave is any less of a person than a princess, but they're not really treated like princesses in the text...)

Large company execs manage 10ks of people and billions of dollars. Get paid 10s of millions.

Legislators do less managing, but are responsible for more money! Shouldn't get paid 10s of millions, but their jobs cover A LOT of people & money.

Do some quick math on politician salaries:
$500k over 8.5M people in NYC proper. Buddy, that's like 6 cents per person.

Texas has 31 Senators + 150 Reps for 31M people.

That's $0.58 per person for every $100k in salary! Affordable!

Yet another argument against The Two Party System.

Apparently the governance of California does work for Californians because they keep voting for them!

It would be nice for NY Democrats not to have to defend those policies, and only ally with CA Democrats on national issues they agree about.

Right wing communities are full of fear.

I initially assumed these families were taking a courageous action to remove their families from what they believe is a dangerous environment (lol).

It didn't occur to me when I posted that they're more likely just knee-jerk fleeing danger.

I didn't really think through the actually real motivations of the actually real people in the article. I suppose I could watch their YouTube channels to find out but I have a real life to attend to.

Thanks for the counterpoint.

That's a good and honorable trait!

Their cruel and intolerant idealogy shouldn't blind us to that bit of goodness in them.

People are (in their way) good and it is bad when people suffer.
November 3, 2025 at 3:03 AM
These people are dumb and have terrible principles, but they are also victims of disinformation mongers. They are analogous to the "everybody should move to a small town, why is nobody coming with me?" guy. They are idealogues who are willing to take courageous action for something they believe in.

Not trying to criticize you, but I personally cannot feel this schadenfreude.

The thought of people being isolated in a hostile country with a language barrier makes me incredibly sad, especially for the children, who did not choose this. (This is also applicable to the US immigration situation!)

Selling a social relationship is bad but also it's called "the oldest profession" for a reason. Just not clear that that can be regulated in any useful way.

I find the catfishing aspect personally disturbing but it seems like not the root problem.
November 1, 2025 at 3:09 PM
I'm struggling with whether or not I think this should be illegal.
On one hand - deeply horrifying behavior (selling a social relationship + catfishing). On the other hand, not really sure it's a good idea to get the law involved.
Preferable to teach men (everyone) not to buy social relationships!

Are there any teams where the WR situation is so dire that you don't assign a WR1?

Goes with my theory that many elected Republicans are just as cowardly as their Democratic compatriots and are mostly white-knuckling the ride until it ends.

They don't want another Trump term! They want back to normal!

2 birds with 1 stone:
Remove the Navy due to continued procurement issues, and designate the Marines as the branch of the military responsible for naval defense.

Adds a lot of competence to naval defense, and sets the marines on a long-term path towards "just another branch".

The first Star Wars Movie blows up an earth-like planet basically just to prove that the situation is serious.

Wild that all of this basically boils down to people wanting to get a piece of the AI money pie, but the pie is actually a massive bubble.

It's a damn tv show.

"Do you guys like the War in Venezuala plot line? I think it's cool!"

"Do you think they're actually gonna go to war in this season?"

"I read a really interesting article which said that the real reason he's sending the carriers is because of a different plot line."

Also where was the "weird shit" this offseason?

Seems like there's been at least one insane thing every Sixers offseason since The Process started.
