I like talking about comics, TV, music and books. I’m also one of those awful liberals so if that’s not your vibe, you may not like it here with me.
This was a good read. I too would have put Jim Aparo’s Batman cover at #1 because it’s such a striking and iconic image. With that said, I can’t really argue with the X-Men cover taking the top spot given its significance, plus it had Cockrum and Kane going for it.

He was absolutely the best team artist ever. NOBODY could handle large numbers of characters like George. If only he could have just let someone like Dave Cockrum handle the costume designs for him.

As much as I love George Perez, costume design was definitely a glaring weakness of his. I absolutely hated the Troia redesign and his other costumes were often much too busy. The fact that George COULD load up his costumes with lots of details didn’t mean he SHOULD have done it.

Jim Aparo was such a great artist. He was arguably the definitive Batman artist among a very strong group of contenders.

Lee Meriwether deserves a lot more love than she gets for her turn as Catwoman. I love Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt but Lee really gave them a great run for their money.

Always loved the Lois and Thorn team-ups.

Re: that last image…no wonder Nura woke up screaming. I’m right there with you, Dreamy. 🤣

By the way, I agree with you about her worst look. Good grief, that outfit is awful.

I’m a big fan of the old school looks for the Legionnaires so this is my favorite look for Dream Girl…

Murphy Anderson truly was one of the all time greats in comics. Loved his work as both a penciller and inker.

My copy’s held up surprisingly well. I still pull it out and read it sometimes and even now it gives me the same sense of excitement it did when it first came out. I didn’t mind Superboy’s presence but he was by far the least interesting member of the team to me so I was fine when he was phased out.

I’m right there with you as this is my all-time favorite standalone issue as well. I saw that cover on the rack and KNEW it was going to be good and I was not disappointed. I loved the run of Giants for both the Legion and JLA during this period and I will always miss this version of the Legion.

Ross Andru and Mike Esposito were a great team.

This is still my favorite look for Violet. Dave Cockrum was the man.

Whenever Snapper gets to be too much for me, I remind myself that at least he’s not that damnable Terry Long. 😳

This was a great era for the Fantastic Four. Loved Buckler’s run on the book.

She’s always had a mean girl vibe about her so I’ve never been a fan. This tracks with everything else I’ve ever heard about her. No surprise here.

Artists with much greater acclaim followed Dillin on JLA but for my money he’s still the definitive JLA artist. The man knew how to draw a team book and his renditions of the big guns like Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are among my favorites. We lost him much too soon.

I think I know who you’re talking about. Saw a nasty comment on your SSOSV post and thought WTF? I’m using the block feature quite liberally to help preserve my great experience thus far on BlueSky.

I was a big fan of the SSOSV. DC was on a roll in the late ‘70s with new titles like this book and the All-Star Comics revival, for example. I enjoyed these series a lot more than the ones featuring DC’s big guns.

I really enjoyed the Steve Gerber/Bob Brown run on Daredevil. Brown was a very underrated artist.

I followed you over there so I’m glad to see you here now. This place is much nicer.

I’m with you…Night Girl.

This ‘70s version of Thorn is one of my favorite DC characters. She had a great look and backstory. Always enjoyed her backups in Lois Lane and her occasional team-ups with Lois in the lead story.
