So if the goal is photo realistic, why not use, well, photos? Why burn 2 acres of the Amazon to produce something that you claim will be indistinguishable from a photo?

Initially the Nvidia microservices will be applied in two areas of L'Oréal's business: its generative Al content-creation platform and a new Al product-recommendation engine. L'Oréal's generative AI content-creation platform, known as CreAltech, can import three-dimensional renderings of products and then use Al to generate photo-realistic images and videos for marketing purposes. Currently, CreAItech uses a range of AI models, among them Stability AI's Stable Diffusion, Google's Imagen and Adobe's ADBE -1.82% V Firefly. Since most models run on Nvidia GPUs, their microservices can offer a big lift in terms of making the platform scale more effectively, Dubey said.
