It can still be a part of you. You maybe not maybe so having autism, you still have symptoms, and maybe some autism spaces allow you to help those symptoms.

Anyone who says you're "lying" abt your diagnosis is an asshole, and don't listen to them. Keep doing what feels right atm.

If you find yourself struggling in school, express what the issue is to a therapist and have them write a letter explaining why you need accommodations. In my experience schools dont really look that deep into the letters and will just be like "Yeah ok what do u need tell us"

And imo no need to get a diagnosis until 18 if you want to, because the only thing I've found a diagnosis best for is getting accommodation in the workplace or benefits from the country (while also knowing it's a danger in itself to tell this info to the country and can block off some paths for you)

So imo, if push comes to shove right now you can just treat symptoms best you can, and keep doing what works best for you while being aware that the dismissal of what you thought was a big part of you could be true or false and is not 100% until you see someone trained in autism.

If you are under 18, you can still get autism testing but know that a lot of places are annoying abt diagnosing anyone under 18 but over 10 w/ autism

If you do not have a therapist, or your psychiatrist does not have a lead; but you do have healthcare, you can use whatever the internet portal of the healthcare is to look for providers who will do this.

You can probably also look up "Adult autism testing in x state" if you're in USA

So what I got was "Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment" in a psychological assessment, this was a psych that was referred to me by my therapist at the time.

As for looking into where to get a proper diagnosis, give me a minute to look up what the place I went to called the specific testing type.
November 12, 2025 at 8:17 PM
Ok yea, you can only really get a proper autism diagnosis confirmation from someone who can diagnosis autism professionally, and even then it's not 100% especially if you are not white or not a cis male, since autism testing (in USA at least) favors white cis men/boys

Unless they are explicitly trained in diagnosis autism, you can disregard. My therapist not trained in DID said I couldnt have it because "its rare" and then I went to a person trained in it and they were like "Yea that sounds like DID/OSDD"

(sorry not my main) If this was a medical professional specifically trained in autism diagnosis 1. Get a second opinion if you're not convinced and 2. If they still say no, it's possible you have a lot of overlap symptoms with autism from something like ADHD

If normal doctor said this, dont listen
