Either I'm far too online, or the photo editor at the Independent feels a certain way about Linehan and his campaign of bigotry... He can't even claim to be ordering five beers here.
A photo credited to Reuters of anti-trans bigot Graham Linehan, outside Westminster Magistrates' Court. He's facing charges of harassment and criminal damage against a young trans woman. In the photo, one of the most divorced middle-aged white cis straight men in the world is wearing a white shirt (open at the neck, no tie) and a grey suit jacket, open. Behind him are a plate glass window and automatic door, which reflect buildings in sunlight. Linehan's expression is probably meant to be a smile, but it looks more like a gurning approximation of whatever a black soul; wizened by years of focused hatred and emptiness, would think a smile is. His right arm is raised in what is described in the Independent's photo description calls a "gesture": straight arm and all fingers extended. I don't think he has a heart to go out to anyone - not that Elon Musk does, either. He's pleaded not guilty, btw; even though Sophia recorded the harassment on the day of the criminal damage, and video of him throwing her phone across the road exists and will likely be entered into evidence.

Saw this on Tiktok, and it occurred to me that the lad who was meditating might be on to something here - the arrest might not be safe enough for a conviction, and given how many cops it took to lift him, maybe more protesters could find their zen in the crowd?

It's just past Spouse and my 3rd anniversary, but could I suggest Bubblebots?

A lot of the guests had bubbles and were blowing them. Some of the bubbles are in focus, but most are out of focus; they are all different colours as they caught the sunlight.

Worst Double Dip ever.

I'm still very new to the Kobo platform, but it's heartening to see that there's a thriving self-published smut market here, too. I won't be buying this (already got enough to be going on with) but it's not subtle, is it?

Maggie and her sometimes-used ramp.

Sorting out a heap of paperwork, I found this photo in a file. I should really get a frame for it.

I was 18; it was 1997 and I did kind of have a tiny crush on Rick Biggs for a while after this. His (at the time) fiancé Lori was also very lovely. His passing was a tragedy.
An old physical photograph from around March on 1997 of the actor Rick Biggs (Dr. Stephen Franklin in Babylon 5), who wears silver oval glasses, a light blue polo shirt and dark blue jeans. He is sitting to the right of me, with his arm around my waist. I'm wearing a black v-neck sweater that I think I stole from my Dad? And a black skirt. Towards my left shoulder, and starting to disappear under my hair are two badges; one light blue and one white. Flash photography has never been kind to me, so the details of my face are almost lost, though you can see where my eyes are, and the line of my closed-mouth smile (years of orthodontics had yet to be unlearned) My left arm is awkwardly slung around Rick's shoulder. We are sitting behind a table and in front of some wood panels, having been working the autograph line at a fan event; I sold Rick's photos for him, and he was very generous with his thanks. The photo was subsequently written on by Rick, at the big Babylon 5 convention in Blackpool that year; using a gold paint marker he wrote "To Fiona, "Don't forget!” then signed it. I'm still very sad that he died in 2004. He was a very beautiful person.

Dried sheening ink is like dried nail polish, except that nail polish doesn't leave me with blue finger tips when cleaning it off the bottles and lids. Today's lesson is that if you use inks, especially sheening inks, and/or nail polish: wipe the necks of the bottles regularly!

Despite it being difficult to stand, I've cleaned some of my favourite pens; and as always happens, I fumbled the Custom 74 as I was about to reassemble it after filling with Tender Purple. Most of it washed off, and somehow I've not dyed a nail??

I've still got a long way to go with learning Polish (and I don't think I'll ever get the conjugations right, except by pure chance) but today I have a new challenge: Shepherd's Crown, which I have never read in English, and classic Polish fairytales. What could go wrong?
Two books, slight overlapping. On the top is a paperback edition of Terry Pratchett's Shepherd's Crown, in Polish. The cover reads "Pasterska Korona" [Shepherd's Crown, in the feminine because of course Polish is a language with genders] - "Ostatni tom Świata Dysku" [roughly, the last from the Discworld]. The cover art is much the same as most editions I've seen before; Paul Kidby's illustration of Tiffany Aching in a light blue dress and heavy black boots, and a black cloak and pointed witches hat; her hands turned palm up and somewhat outspread. There's a white cat by her feet, and she's surrounded by the Nac Mac Feegle [tiny blue people with red hair, wearing kilts and waving an assortment of swords and clubs], and bees swarm around her head and hands. The other book is a hardback edition of Maria Konopnicka's "Świat Baśni - Co słonko widziało Na jagody O krasnoludkach i sierotce Marysi" (I'm relying on Google Translate now) "What the Sun saw for berries about dwarves and orphan Marysia". The cover illustration is a stylised beared dwarf? gnome? in a red hat and pince nez style glasses, with a large white beard; holding a large feather quill pen and the book. He's looking to the right side of the cover, where far behind him a girl with blond pigtails and wearing a purple top and long red skirt under a white apron feeds a small flock of 8 white geese. There's a brown dog running nearby. Further behind them is a small cottage with a thatched roof, and then the background fades into rolling fields and a wide blue sky. Dandelion seeds float across the middle of the image, seemingly from a fuzzy dandelion that is just behind the gnome earlier described.

Maggie has settled in at Mum's, just in time to go back home tomorrow. She's 19 now. How on earth do I have a 19 year old?? How has it been 15 years since she came to rule my life???

The way that Maggie is lying on her side, her belly is quite visible, and she appears very relaxed and comfortable. I think she was sleeping, though she may have just been resting her eyes.

Saw a pure belter of street art the other day:
An A4 size piece of paper pasted to a sort-of black wall. There's a tear at the top right corner, and a smudge that might be a thumbprint above the Q in 'quite', and the page has a box drawn within it. A message is inside the box, in a mix of styles, and lower lines escape the boundary of the line down the right side of the sheet. For some reason, there is a date stamp at the bottom right corner that says 25 JUN 2022. Handwritten text reads: [block capitals, with some flourishes] I'M QUITE DRUNK AT THE MOMENT. [changes to a more common cursive that looks quite hurried and somewhat careless] how e v e r (spread out to cover the width of the page) I'm about to drink a coffee with some speed in it which should sort me out before 5pm. I have 1 hour and 40 minutes to fully sober up. That's a piece of piss.

In with a blisteringly hot take here: why were inhalers the target for medical-use plastics? Pill strips are right there!

I've probably averaged out to a strip a day over the last ~18mths without including the other oral medication I have to take. Why can't the plastic be compostable or something?
A strip of 10 pills, with 4 removed. The seal is silver foil/paper with "Co-codamol 30/500mg Tablets | Codeine Phosphate | Paracetamol | Palla Pharma (UK) Holding Limited" printed in black, in a repeating pattern across the length of the strip. The background is a bamboo chopping board that resembles a light coloured wood. A strip of co-codamol pills, turned over to show the white plastic side with the pills individually separated from one another. The pills are at a jaunty angle to the edges of the strip, making it longer for absolutely no reason I can determine. (If you're unfamiliar with this style of medication packaging, you press the pill out from the back though that requires more and more strength these days; I usually pierce the film seal first then push it through. These taste bad enough without breaking them and exposing the inside of a pill to my tongue.)

I can't remember if I've done #ProofOfCat already, but here's my furry overlord.

I swear there's one pattern for tuxedo cats and very few variations from that (two of my local pals also have identical tuxies)
