Made some "artist trading card" size collages the last couple of days. 2.5"x3.5" inches is a very small canvas to work on, but the exercise was fun.

Three index card collages I put together tonight. I enjoy the small canvas to work on where you aren't able to use as many pieces of paper to fill.
Three collages made on index cards. All three are full of multiple scraps of old paper and magazine pieces. The one on the left has the visible word "Benefit," the middle one has the word "Magnificent" showing, and the one on the right has three large letters prominent at the top: "per." Otherwise, it's a random collection of papers with words, music notes, and random colors with torn paper edges.

The collage on the left uses an old music page, a piece from an old Polish(?) passport, some wrapping paper, a Jack Kirby comic and some other random scraps. The collage on the right uses a few scraps from old magazines, a Japanese tea wrapper, some packing paper, and a chopsticks wrapper.

A few more collages from this weekend, using bristol board as a foundation. It's definitely stiffer, but it still bends a bit as I add papers to it. Went to the edges on these pieces.

The collage on the left has a background at the top of a field of flowers, and at the bottom is a dark blue and dark green. There's a vertical scrap of magazine of a sardine near the middle of the piece, with some text (upside down) that says "FOUND." There are also some random scraps like a "no postage necessary" from a magazine renewal card, and some bits from an old letter and an old calendar. The collage on the right has many scraps of older paper where the background is a photo of a beehive. On top is a half of a woman from an old advertisement, a bit from a canasta scoresheet, and a few pieces from some random comics and kids' books. On the left border is the bolded word "RETURN."

I ordered some bristol board in the hopes that it would serve as a better backing for my collages. It's definitely more stiff, but there's still a bit of warping. Here are two collages from Friday.

The collage on the left uses an old, browned piece of a recipe page as a background with various smaller scraps of paper on top. Some of the highlights are a bit from an old calendar, some balloons from a children's book, a bit of a map of Cuba, and a bit of scrolled text that (I think) reads "time." The collage on the right uses an old doctor's prescription as the background (for "ephedrine" something). On top of that are some scraps of green tissue paper with white polka dots, a bit of a photo of the moon, a raven cut from a bird book, and a strip that says "Country-Inn" from a grocery store flyer. A few other scraps of paper are added on top.

There are two collages in this photo. A primary focus in the collage on the left is a scrap of cardboard painted green with a touch of blue. There are various other scraps of older paper from magazines as well as a part of a grocery bag with some green paint on it. The collage on the right has a focus on a cut out oak leaf from a magazine, along with some craft paper with white paint smeared on it. Also, along the bottom of this collage is what looks like a line of dancers in blue and yellow costumes.

One of tonight's collages that I'm happy with.
Paper collage of primarily vertical strips of aged, tan-colored paper with a single blue-purple organic shape in the middle/center of the composition. There are a few letters visible from a few of the scraps of paper.

A collage with some random scraps of paper and cardboard. The only recognizable piece is a bit from a local grocery flyer that advertises "Italian Bread 99c". A paper collage with random papers from some magazines and old books. The most prominent being a model with her eyes closed and her arm stretching straight up. A paper collage with a few random cut outs from books and such. The biggest focal point is the word "AGAIN" in white on a blue background, and a small cutout from a Peanuts comic with Sally saying "My problems are deep rooted." The most recent paper collage, where the bottom half of the piece is a page from an old book. There's a globe, a spoon on a napkin, and some religious music and scripture as some of the paper scraps.

One paper collage with various scraps of colored paper, a few with random text and letters. In the middle is a bit from a cathedral in Russia (I think), and letters upside down that kind of spell VEAR (maybe it was previously WEAR). Another paper collage with a few recognizable pieces of paper, the most recognizable is a big piece from a Drumsticks box. Other than that, a facade of a building with a man peeking out from a doorway, a big letter "S", and a piece from an advertisement that says "invites you."

Each are made with various scraps of paper, but the most noticeable pieces are from a amararetti cookie wrapper, some sheet music, and a woman cut from a fashion magazine.

A paper collage for the prompt “Drawing.” There are some various tan scraps of paper from magazines with numbers or text on them. Nothing specific. Also a couple of scraps of mainly colored paper. On top of it all is a cut out of a little boy with blue and green crayons in his hands, and there are blue and green scribbles around the page. This paper collage is primarily made up of bold, colorful scraps of paper, mainly centered in the middle of the page. One scrap of red has some wording about X-ray machines, and a yellow scrap is a tag that says it’s a press pass for an indoor track event. The only non bold color, is the cut out of the tip of a thumb in black in white on the top of everything.

I'm starting to lose a bit of steam with #februllage2025. These last couple for today and yesterday sort of fill the brief of "tapestry" and "vinyl," but I was traveling and didn't have as much time to spend on the collages. But, I've still kept it up every day!

A paper collage with a few scraps from a recent trip to visit my son. There's part of a Starbucks pastry bag, and a few pieces from tickets to the Roanoke Pinball museum. Then to make it count for Februllage, then a small scrap from the corner of a sleeve from a 45 RPM record advertising some other albums. A very hastily put together collage for the "tapestry" theme, with some random scraps of paper from various sources, including: a tapestry from an old auction catalog; a corner from a small calendar from 1955; a wrapper from a Japanese tea; and a curious man's head looking to the right.
