I haven’t worked on Barbie movies in 10 years. Tonight, my almost 6-year-old said, ‘Mom, can we watch a Barbie movie?’ I dreamt of this moment when I was single and working on them. With basically a Bob the Builder for a dad, I was never the cool one, until tonight. One movie down 3 more to go!

We watched the movie Wonder this weekend. I asked my 5 year old son, “Should you ever make fun of someone because of the way they look?” The look on his face was pure disgust at even the thought.

“No, why would you say that?”

Children get it. They innately know. Now, how do we teach the grown-ups?

My mother just gave each of my kids, who are 2 and 5 years old, a recorder!

Changing up the kids' bookshelf for Valentine's Day! "I Love You, Stinky Face" by Lisa McCourt is one of my faves!

My kids love the idea of being swamp monsters & skunks knowing that I'd love them no matter what.

Unconditional love is the best love ❤️

Pitching a children's book about kids playing with guns would be an immediate rejection from publishers. But toy companies keep marketing weapons to toddlers and we're all okay with this? The disconnect between what we'll publish for kids vs what we'll sell them is wild. Make it make sense. #kidlit

After years with PR status, I finally submitted my Canadian citizenship application. Democracy needs every voice - every vote matters. Next up: studying for the test! The path to citizenship is long, but protecting our democratic values is worth it. #Canada #Vote

Beat writer's block with post-holiday deals! Scored a year's worth of kids' gifts at clearance prices before tax changes & tariffs hit. Bonus: if unused, that's Christmas sorted. Back to writing, stress-free! Sometimes inspiration comes from crossing off other tasks. #MomLife #kidsbooks #parenting

Kindness, chosen by kids as word of the year, should be celebrated beyond classrooms. Gen Z & Alpha deserve a greater say in shaping the future. While elders' wisdom matters, we need intergenerational dialogue. Kids' voices should be elevated, heard & empowered. We need their mindset more than ever.

Me: "Look at the snow! Did you know each flake is unique?"

Son: "Like people"

Me: "Right! What if they were all the same?"

Son: "Ugh, boring!"

Me: "What happens when they come together?"

Son: "They make the world beautiful!"

Me: "Yup, same is true for people."

A 5 year old gets it!

Is anyone else excited about the new Paddington movie?

I loved the books as a kid & now I get to share that joy with my boys.

We went to get passport pictures today. I got my 2 year old to do a hard stare so he wouldn't smile. He nailed the assignment!

Santa brought my kids a storytelling kit from KiwiCo, & it has exceeded all expectations. My 5-year-old creates elaborate tales while my 3-year-old jumps in with imaginative scenarios. It's heartwarming to see them developing narrative skills through creative play.

Parent PSA: The Kissing Hand is the real MVP for tiny humans grappling with separation. My 5-year-old loved The Invisible String, but my 2-year-old needed something he could actually feel. This book gets it - toddlers need tangible comfort, not abstract concepts.

Stressed parent? Last year I ditched gentle parenting's impossible standards for SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) and finally exhaled.

Turns out you don't need to achieve nirvana to raise good kids.

Just practical tools for growing emotional intelligence, minus the parental guilt trip.

Growing up in Ireland, where storytelling runs deep, I've been puzzled watching my son's experience with show and tell.

Each day brings reports of another toy paraded in class.

Like so much of modern life, we seem to have lost the art of telling in favour of simply showing off.

Need some joy?

"A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo" by Jill Twiss!

A dapper bunny in a bow tie falls in love with another boy bunny, much to the horror of a stink bug (who looks oddly familiar 😉).

Remember: love is love, and even the grumpiest stink bugs can't stop it. #LoveWins #Kidlit #kidsky

Identity IS free speech. It's who we are, our whole truth expressed through living. When you silence identity, you silence existence. Every pronoun, faith, culture, & personal truth is speech. Don't tell me about "free speech" if you're trying to cage who people ARE. That's called oppression.

Making magic out of misery with another round of daycare plague.

TV time's through the roof this AM, but so are the snuggles (and I know which one he'll remember).

Ready for an exciting day of play - bring on getting lost in trains, storytelling, and ice-pop baths.

I have no idea what tomorrow brings. Am I scared of the future, does an Irishman like a pint? So we talked with the kids about celebrating wins, big & small. We're getting a ship's bell to ring daily for every victory. Just because the world's falling apart doesn't mean we have to. Find the light.

Social media isn't social. What if we built something that matters? A platform for real community, not followers, where brands earn attention by supporting UN sustainable goals while people build genuine connections & wealth. Thoughts?
