It is easy to pretend to be a good human. Go to church, work in a job where people thank you for your service, show up to baseball games and smile.
Empathy is the tell. They may at times act empathetic, but it’s an act and they can’t fake it consistently. The eyes show no emotion.

He said he was late because he was the designated driver. How dare I accuse him of something so awful while he was only trying to make sure everyone got home safe.

I was only 4 weeks postpartum when he wanted sex. I told him no. He said he felt like he had been replaced and went and watched TV.

The day we came home from the hospital, I brewed coffee and played hostess to my in laws while he sat on the sofa and held our baby until it was time to feed him again.
