What I really have a hard time reconciling is that if I was in a room with somebody who said something like that, I would immediately point out that settlers were immigrants. Why don’t the people around them respond to the crazy things that they say?

These days you can just say any crazy thing you want and present it as fact. No consequences for them.

Per the NYT, “judges who were fired earlier this year suggested that the administration was targeting judges who were considered too lenient and was also trying to create a feeling of fear.”
