I would like to ask any female athletes what advice they would give to young girls who want to pursue sports? I want to coach young girls one day and I would appreciate feedback from other female athletes! I would also like to ask about what misconceptions you feel people have about women in sport?

Thought this was a cool representation of our week 6 topic of gender and sexuality. Vladdy is promoting women’s sport knowing he was going to be heavily photographed, repping another Canadian jersey!

Should Bichette be playing in the World Series? Although he is hurt is it in the teams best interest for him to play or should he consider his health instead? I think he should play because this is such an amazing, rare opportunity. @kin110uofr.bsky.social

Sue Bird played many games with a broken nose; this is a repeated injury showing she is disrespecting and depersonalizing her pain. This also implies that she doesn’t want to show weakness and disproving that she’s not a “suitable athlete”

Should athletes be able to participate while injured? Yes and no. In this era of sport, safety is a must. Although, I believe participation in out of competition events they can and should participate to the best of their ability.

An example of alienation to one’s body is Matthew Tkachuk playing, finishing and winning the Stanley Cup finals this previous season with a torn adductor muscle from the bone and a sports hernia. He scored the cup winning goal in game 6.

@kin110uofr.bsky.social Health and sport. The NHL and hockey culture in general has had a long history of overlooking and ignoring injuries. Often being proudly refered to as a 'mans sport' it is not uncommon for hockey players at any level to downplay or even ignore both minor and major injuries.
