On the subject of people traveling to the US right about now: Fuck, if I were from another country and I didn't need to come, I sure as hell wouldn't, the current administration has made it clear traveling here isn't safe, and why not take them at their word, there's a whole world to visit

This is so important: what they are cutting is not waste. What they are cutting is a delicate ecosystem and the fundamental infrastructure that enables all of scientific work to proceed. I am not the only one slowing and closing experimental work. Harm to NIH = harm to science = harm to human health

This is horrible to post, but I may as well post it. We are essentially shutting down research operations in my group, which is focused on treatments for pediatric brain cancer. I’m a well funded investigator, and there’s no choice. Science can’t function without the stability of NIH
