After rereading Zami, I wanted a different perspective on Audre Lorde's life. The books was a beautifully written love letter from a devoted follower; though, I wish she would've taken greater opportunity to critique Lorde's Zionism.

I had to read this book for a second time this year! Despite the fact that it's not entirely faithful to the events of Lorde's life, it was written with such sincerity that it has the impact of any other memoir. I also cherish the lessons learned about difference!

I picked this book because it was by a Mexicana (and was on sale) not realizing that was a memoir about an unhealthy lesbian relationship. I appreciated how she framed the story to emphasize the urgency of multiple queer stories of personhood.
