TikTok is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. Any Chinese owned business is under the control of the Chinese government. The Chinese government is insulating/controlling their people from outside ideas with their version of TikTok called Douyin.

The Chinese government definitely has a say in content. A lot of people like it but I just find where it is coming from unacceptable.
