The reality is that we won’t be able to remove this biases anytime soon. For this reason, we need initiatives that promote diversity instead of doing nothing.

I agree with you. But unfortunately, we live in a society that would not consider someone for a position based on their race, gender, or sexual orientation even if they have merit and are fully qualified for the role. This is the fundamental issue.

It depends on where you look. But all I have seen are opinions. Which are not facts. The truth is that you have to do quantitative and qualitative analyses. I can see more diversity now in the goverment than when I was a kid. We would have to make a statistical analysis to truly know the effect.

What bias is the “another”?

No. You are misunderstanding what I am saying. I am not talking about equivalence in the sense of their effect, how dangerous.

I am making an example of how there are always extremes on every movement. But you should not base your emotions on those extremes. It clouds you judgement.

The reality is that the majority of people are not extremist and just want a nice life where they can have financial stability, have hobbies, go on trips. Most people have empathy for others. We have to focus on the majority and not on the extremist so we ourselves don’t get poisoned by hate.

My point is, there will always be people that go-over board with their beliefs and ideals. Even in something as simple as caring for the environment. But, we should not focus on these people and give them platforms where they can have a bigger impact for fear-mongering.

There will always be extremist on everything. Do you know that there are Eco-extremist? People that literally provoke violent attacks because they believe we need to stop technology and go back to a more primitive lifestyle. It’s crazy.

Nobody hates whites people. What people are protesting is lack of morals and propaganda based on hate and fear instead of facts.

It has to stop. Black vs white. Man vs woman. Right vs left. So much division and hate. Anyone who wants to fuel that hate for their own gain should not have a platform.

This is a huge problem. Because it causes less diversity in workplaces. DEI is important because it forces employers to be aware of their biases and forces them to create a diverse environment for the greater good. The only people who could be against this, is people who don’t want diversity.

For example: A white man, an asian woman and a black man are applying for the same position. They are all equally qualified. Who would you choose? If you are already a white man, you might choose based on who you feel more connected to.

The problem Lex, is that a lot of people have the merit for certain positions regardless of their race. But, it is known that biases, which are ingrained in our brains, can make employer choose certain candidates over others.
