Yeah, the guy should go check out (a tiny portion of) the Pope's meme collection in the Vatican museums.

Another one here: I spotted this banner hanging on Tampere Old Church this summer.

Reminds me of this old screencap

The movies do Isildur dirty; he was travelling to Rivendell to consult Elrond about what to do with the Ring when he was ambushed, and had to be convinced by his men to use the Ring in order to try to escape the ambush. This scene is film-original.

Besides, Frodo couldn't do it either.

You know what; I heartily welcome fascists spending their military budget on useless kit, the LEAST thing I want is competent nazis. And kinda like the pyramids or medieval cathedrals, battleships are nice to look at and their construction employs normal people. Better than giving money to oligarchs

Or how about a scenic walk by the Tiber riverside in Rome. This REALLY peeved me off

In fairness Starship is not a serious vehicle but a swindle and a grift, so no actual potential for scientific missions are being missed out on (unless by opportunity cost). For its NASA contract, it's supposed to refuel in orbit 15 times (and that's aspirational) to do what this thing does? Come on

Might as well post this in case someone hasn't seen it before

Reminds me of (thoroughly awful) diplomacy AI from Rome: Total War

Goes to show you how terrible First Past the Post system really is, given how reliably it leads to two-party systems. In a parliamentary system voters would have more choice, such as the Silly Party and Very Silly Party, and wouldn't have to choose between such (pardon my French) fucking clowns

I always like to point out that "happy" is a poorly chosen word because it sounds like you're on mega-cocaine smiling and giggling all the time or something, which Finns notoriously aren't. But if you instead said e.g. "eudaimonic", then it suddenly starts making sense.
