I'm here for the birds and the smart people who like birds. And restoring native plant species. And good vibes.

I condemn thee to watch over this wetland for all eternity, fighting all foes of destruction as if thee owned this land.

This was one of 14 monarchs I raised from an egg this year. All were successfully released. It’s such a quiet thing I do. But I thought maybe someone out there could use some beauty.

The Fort Wayne pair, Moxie and Jamie, have come back for the 12th year and successfully laid eggs. I was really worried that the avian flu would get them.

Red-shoulder hawks are my favorite. This one was so unbothered by me and focused on getting a meal that I got this shot thru my sunroof.

This is Frankie (aka Pennywise). This is Frankie's box. It has crinkle paper in it. She does not want you to put in softer material. Just the crinkle paper, if you please.

Adopted a senior lady this week. She's been through some stuff for sure. She's pretty much been sleeping and purring for 5 days straight. Kind of crazy looking, like a cobbled-together cat. Meet Frankie, y'all.

Throwback to April 2024 ... Nearing the end of a birding hike at Goose Pond. You can't tell, but in a few mins, I'm about to find 2 Black-necked Stilts.

From April: A Northern Parula performing air-ballet. Reliably always hear them in spring but impossible to actually find.

Early Sept I had 18 5th-instar Monarch cats in my Swamp Milkweed. I caught a couple of No. Cardinals feasting themselves (I hope they got tummy aches) so I brought in the remaining cats to safety. Here they are on release day, beautiful and ready for the journey south.

When you're an office clerk at a state park, most days are copy/phones/registrations. But some days people hand you an owl, too

Hey all. Happy to be here. Birds and native plants are my thing, but not what I do for a living. Maybe some day.
