The foundation of science is trust. We must be able to trust our colleagues’ data, or we cannot move forward. Fraud corrodes trust, eats away at that foundation, and must be rooted out. But painting with too broad a brush, tarring an entire field with the misdeeds of a few, this also erodes trust
