Hi all, it’s been a crazy spring however this weekend it was time for a short pause to visit Port Aransas. They were celebrating their 25th Sand Castle contests. I’ll be posting some more fun pics to check out but here’s a few.

I know it’s not healthy, but when in New Orleans gotta get an oyster po boy and beer.

Found myself on the corner of Bourbon & Canal St. the day before local officials relocated the memorial. It was a somber and moving tribute to the innocent lives needlessly lost.
We can do better.

A total lunar eclipse will flush the moon red Thursday night into Friday morning across the Western Hemisphere. The best views will be from North America and South America. Parts of Africa and Europe may catch a glimpse.

Decided to drop into Willie’s Gumbo Kitchen for a Po Boy and beer before first night out in NoLa! So happy to be back.

With life feeling so crazy, I love to watch the night sky because it reminds me how small we are in the universe and how incredible it is just to be alive. My hope is that life will eventually get better for everyone in the world.

I came across these pics I took a couple years ago at the Chihuly museum when visiting Seattle. It’s truly one of the most amazing collections of glass art. It’s totally worth checking out!

Hope everyone is staying warm tonight if you’re experiencing freezing temps.

Austin is anticipating some snow on Tuesday - we will see.

This pic is from the back yard during the 2021 deep freeze.

Mariscal Mine

A 22 mile off road tour on the East side of the park.

From 1900 - 1943, this mine produced 1,400 seventy-six lb. flasks of mercury - nearly 1/4 of the total produced in the United States. Now deserted, the mine’s area provided people who lived there $$ and a place to live.

Ernst Tinaja in BBNP is a limestone canyon with orange swirling striations in the rocks, fossils of giant oysters and a 13 ft natural rock pool. A favorite place for an early hike.

Hoping to spot some meteors tonight. With the moon shining bright it will reduce visibility but gonna try to observe the Geminids between 1-3 am. I am going to focus on the direction of meteors near Castor in Gemini, hopefully will get to see a few!
I’ll report back.

Each dog we are lucky enough to share time with is special. This was DJ, he was stubborn, loyal and silly. His relationship with a Kong toy was second to none and he would retrieve until he wore you out. He also loved to sit in your lap and eat pup ice cream. We have so many fond memories.

Rarely go downtown these days but a friend insisted I go with her to check out the 7th floor restaurant. It was nice to see the hotel decorated for the holidays but I barely recognize downtown anymore.

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! Was so happy to catch this little garden snake sunning itself on the cactus! I need to figure out if this is a teddy bear cholla. The picture was taken about 40 miles outside of Phoenix.

You know, it's interesting to grow up an elder millennial and take for granted these images of the planets in our solar system – taken by various JPL/NASA spacecraft – because most of these images only came to exist during our lifetime. Many by a craft carrying a television camera and tape drive. 🔭

Chimneys Trail at Big Bend National park was one of my favorite. Every time you go you can explore something new.
