A poem, it says: They say life is a roller coaster, a journey. But what they don’t say is sometimes the tracks dip into the pit of hell, and sometimes they launch you into heaven. The trade-off of seeing the greatest beauty in the tiniest pinpricks of light is that the darkness is that much heavier, and smothering. To see the cup half full is a glorious curse, and to see goodness in everyone is wearing shackles that cut your own wrist. So why? Why not let the darkness consume as it tries so desperately to do? Why not launch into the black hole of reality’s darkest side and let the light we fight for fade away? Would it be more peaceful in the spot that light can’t remind you what joy feels like, or love? Would the silence of despair be better than the battle cry of hope? What we often forget, is life is at its core, unsurvivable. So we make the best of what we have, right now. We fight and slash through the bramble of sorrows for a peek at the beauties beyond. We hold out our hand to the fallen tearful, and find that ever pursued light spark in their eyes. And we know that no matter where we end up, that light we’ve sparked lives on, igniting others long after we’re gone. We keep going.
