Not to put too fine a point on it but Pope Francis insinuated the US under current leadership is “the construction site of hell,” in his Way of the Cross meditation.

It’s possible the Vatican truly believes this darkness must be addressed on its home turf.

Looks like Dan Green has left Wildcat Hill, en route to Trinity Heights. He is chugging up that final brutal climb before the finish line.

Rachel Entrekin has just come through Jerome Aid Station. She said she didn’t need anything, looked super energetic and in very good spirits. She is in third place overall, and the first place female!

Courtney Dauwalter has ended her effort at Cocodona 250, this year. She’s fine and will provide more details later but needs to sleep first.

Fueling issues and hip pain have dogged her efforts before. We’ll see what happened here.

Checking in on another fan favorite, Callie Vinson’s closing in on route mile 30.

Now fully recovered from a recent bee sting on her lip incident, during a training run 🐝, she’s getting it done — no doubt with her terrific sense of humor!

I fueled my effort today with new gels from NeverSecond. I usually use SIS. My requirements are that gels aren’t too sweet and don’t upset my GI. The taste was pleasant and sat well on my gut. Perfect!

The C30+ gel has 30g of fast-absorbing carbs, 200mg of sodium and 75mg of caffeine. #trailrunning

Holy Compounded-Difficultly Workout, Batman!

Trail conditions were awful today. Ice, slush and mud made 6 miles feel like 15. Slipping and sliding turned the entire route into a strength workout. My post-run intensity trend: 193%. Tough slog, today.
