And it also doesn’t help that I somehow bought decaf coffee instead of regular. 😫

Yeah, I’m going to have to figure out something like that with this class. They couldn’t care less about our school wide behavior program.

And it’s terrible that now they’re going to have a negative association with the police, but they are doing and encouraging things that put other kids in danger. One example is, once they were throwing sharpened pencils at each other and seeing who would flinch first. They wouldn’t stop.

I agree, but there are kids who handle these changes pretty well and those who do not. My son was never a problem as far as attitude and pushing boundaries goes. These kids are pushing boundaries to the extent that they’re getting the school resource officer called on them.

Hoping she gets some rest and relief soon!

*if* you live in a state with a union. We’re in a southern non-union state.

Agreed.

Some people don’t have the luxury of just quitting. Loss of income and insurance can be a big motivator to stay in a bad situation. It sucks but sometimes you have to sacrifice your mental health until you’re in a better position to get a better job.

My school only goes up to 5th.

I taught middle school for one year. I’m amazed I made it through that year at all. I definitely quit at the end of the year though.

Our admin isn’t too bad about doing that. Not with the older grades anyway. Once I call admin they usually stop misbehaving because they know they’re about to get some strong consequences.

Agreed!

1st grade is my favorite age group. They’re not as wild as K5, but they haven’t started pushing boundaries like the older grades yet. So peaceful!

She’s not a bad teacher. Those are just some really tough students who shouldn’t be in a class together. Individually they’re fine, but all together they influence each other to misbehave.

Could you please explain what you mean? I’m having trouble following
December 24, 2025 at 12:29 AM
We’re trying a new seating chart today to see if that helps.
December 8, 2025 at 3:11 PM
Not ALL, but about ten of them. And I couldn’t tell for sure who it was coming from because you hum with your mouth closed.
December 8, 2025 at 12:54 AM
Yeah, she has a tough time with them too.
December 8, 2025 at 12:52 AM
Yes, several times
December 7, 2025 at 11:14 PM
It makes me want to quit again. I’m 1000% sure there’s a better job out there for me. (4/4)

Finally I had to yell at the top of my lungs. When that didn’t work I had to call an administrator. It immediately stopped. I don’t have this problem with any other class that I teach. The disrespect and purposeful bad behavior is outrageous. (3/?)
