Oh, it definitely is. The spring is hardenable. Railroad spikes, even the ones labeled HC are too low carbon to harden enough to hold an edge.

Here’s my first, a year or so ago

I did the 48 hr dagger challenge a couple months ago. Made my first dagger, including my first through-tang, first guard and first pommel. Turned out pretty decent for my second completed knife.

I occasionally have FiF playing on the TV in my bladesmithing shop while I hand sand.

Following you because you said you want to try bladesmithing. I am a relatively new bladesmith. 👍🏼
