Since it's that time of year, here's the Christmas card my grandfather sent to my grandmother in December 1918. He'd made it across Belgium with the Second Army as far as Cologne. He's in the back row on the far left in the third picture.

Lipetsk Air Base, 2005, taken through a dirty bus window. Even then I was amazed the then VVS let us on the airfield. I can't imagine the Ukrainians will have found it hard to hit something.
