If megachurches can make pastors rich, there's an equal opportunity for cons to "misplace" money and commit fraud, and some absolutely have, and they've been caught, and many.... faced no consequences. Im speaking outside of the fandom as well, but I think there are some furry cons doing this.

And while I can't prove intent, and I understand newer or smaller cons using volunteer work because it's the only option, I can garuntee you some of these larger cons are pocketing huge amounts of cash on the backs of employees who just get a half-price room and a shitty lunch as pay.

This isn't talked about enough because we assume good will from charity. People act like conventions are somehow only able to run on this non-profit system, which is entirely not true considering everything that isnt a furry con is doing it for profit and paying staff.
