my toxic trait is i have terminal hipster disease and most of the time i can only experience things like 5-10 years after the perceivable peak of a thing being talked about

oh absolutely, i agree... i liked the "high off your own supply" part about the fiction of the 'non-real' online and how protest has become about symbolism and imagery and grandstanding platitudes about revolution rather than working and making any actual concerted progress toward anything

'indie' especially feels like a non-term these days and that there isn't something that really captures the essence of the more fringe, like w/ 'alt'-rock in music today

excellent blog post, it definitely echoes a lot of the things i've felt both about my work and other peoples' relationships to the things i make... i have a constant egging worry that certain ground i may potentially retread may end up feeling very old hat, but perhaps it's not so bad...
