Lol, I think it's likely more of a scalpel type implement -- for cutting/reflecting the scalp. Usually the boring implements were much bigger and tougher!

Yea there’s no scale on this one, but these tools (judging from Roman era examples, of which there are many) were usually like 10-14 cm long.

Comparanda, as I understand it. Similar tools found in Celtic graves in the area. But I don’t think it’s been conserved or anything yet (and it was found without much context), so I suppose interpretation could change!

Just a heads up this isn't just about trans women. "Olympic chiefs are also looking at prohibiting athletes with DSD (differences of sex development) from women's events given testosterone advantages."

Vellum is just high-class parchment that you can write on. The seal skin is the binding, so I don’t think it has a special term — just a (seal-)leather-bound book!
