Comparison of the 2025 Virginia governor's race to the 2021 race.
December 6, 2025 at 2:31 AM
After years of being irritated with election data visualizations I decided to make my own. This shows the importance of towns and cities on the Virginia 2025 governor's race.

This is the kind of messaging Democrats need on this issue. Red-state America, your health insurance premiums are going to TRIPLE if Republicans get their way.

Seems like Democrats and the left might be owed an apology.

Unfortunately, "drone" really hides what these are. These are Russian knock-offs of the Iranian Shahed. We hear "drone" and we think "quad-copter" but this thing is a cruise missile.

Sure. But at the same time I do have a problem with treating the Kirk shooting like some kind of extra-special tragedy when Kirk himself argued that events like it are the perfectly acceptable price we pay for 2nd Amendment rights.

That price can't be acceptable only when it's someone else.

Now Trump is calling for Iran's "unconditional surrender?" Jesus Christ....

This is what Germany and Japan looked like before "unconditional surrender" was on the table.

At this point it might be simpler to ask who in Iran ISN'T working for Mossad?

DOGE is either ruinously incompetent or treasonous.

The fallout from this level of brute stupidity is going to be ruinous and the blow will fall hardest upon the very people who put Trump into office.

Stephen King's post from 2016 seems especially prescient today.

And you can almost see the toddler-level logic here. If Narnia's $1000 in exports are tariffed at 10% that will yield $100 in revenue to the US government, "balancing the books."

But... Jesus Christ on a Jet Powered Pogo Stick, it does NOT work that way.
April 3, 2025 at 2:03 PM
Let's talk about how profoundly stupid these tariff rates are. Not how profoundly stupid tariffs are -- there are literally whole undergraduate majors in that -- just the rates.

Why stop there? Here's John Tyndall in his 1861 paper entitled "The Bakerian Lecture: On the Absorption and Radiation of Heat by Gases and Vapours, and on the Physical Connexion of Radiation, Absorption, and Conduction" published by the Royal Society of London

Social Security checks are likely to stop going out within the next 90 days or so. But I'm sure "ending wokeness" or whatever was really important.

I am also anti-genocide. By which I mean that I try to minimize the amount of genocide that happens in the world. I don't feel like this is a complicated or controversial position but here we are.
