This man, Roy Barclay, was today sentenced to life in prison (with a minimum of 25 years behind bars) for murdering Anita Rose when she was out walking her dog in July last year. His motive remains unknown.

Throughout 2024, the Guardian's Killed Women Count campaign "aimed to report on every woman allegedly killed by a man, drawing on the work of campaigns such as Counting Dead Women, the Femicide Census and Killed Women". Their work in this field was recognised by the 2025 Press Awards.

The man who killed his wife Kulsuma Akter as she pushed a pram in Bradford in April last year, and pleaded guilty to manslaughter, will go on trial for her murder on Monday.

Darrel was killed - in her own home - by her husband in 2023. Last week he was sentenced to 'life' imprisonment for her murder, which he had denied (claiming he "thought she had gone back to sleep") - but he could be out on parole in as little as 15 years.

Sam was murdered in her own home in February 2024. Her killer was sentenced today: to 'life' imprisonment, with a minimum of 24 years before he is eligible for parole.
Sam had visited Leeds' domestic violence service in the week before she was killed.
