I get the desperation. I guess I‘m a person who will look up the original research article and its sources rather than trusting the newspaper article about it, and my mind can’t help but consider the very vague and arbitrary relation between an LLM generated text and the rest of the world.

It's a matter of perspective, I guess. It would require accepting writing as a modality in its own right, on the same level as spoken and signed language, not merely a secondary representation of speech.
