Also, use a mix of some real world logic and fantasy bsing! Weird snowbound country? Cool! Does it have a coast? Should have a port city! If no port city, why? Maybe sea travel is too dangerous along that coast. These little details add up to a fleshed out world map that feels real and lived in.

My biggest tip, tbh, don't be afraid of water/oceans. The world is huge, and unless you're going for a thematic, total land world, prob gonna have big oceans to sail on. And oceans open up a whole new sector of play! Pirate shenanigans, sea monsters, you name it.

That's the beauty of fantasy maps, they don't have to make real world sense, but you can come up with cool reasons to explain the geography and climate of different areas!

I love it! You can use geographical features for storytelling too. For instance, why is the northwest land snow covered, but not anywhere else? Maybe a fun magic explanation! Good map so far!
