As a future doctor, I plan to include nutrition into every interaction by emphasizing how diet influences prevention and treatment of disease. The knowledge I gained this semester will help me give guidance to support healthier habits that improve long-term outcomes. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This Thanksgiving, I’m most looking forward to roasted sweet potatoes! They’re rich in fiber, which supports digestion, and loaded with beta-carotene, an antioxidant that boosts immune and eye health, making them a nutritious and delicious option. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Tom’s story shows that lasting success comes from determination and steady, sustainable changes, which is important because real progress takes time. With future patients, I’ll stay supportive, encourage optimism, and offer guidance as needed. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I learned that obesity can be caused by lifestyle, environment, or genetics. Changes in the leptin gene are linked to obesity. Which is why I think it’s important to talk about weight with empathy and understanding. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

A barrier I relate to is lack of time to plan, shop, and prepare. Lack of time makes it hard to eat healthy, so I often grab quick meals that aren’t as nutritious, leaving me feeling tired and off track with my health goals. I should try to block out time to do this. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I looked at the label of my multivitamin and realized I didn’t know much about what was in it. It has 200% of the daily value for vitamin C and 100% for several B vitamins, but I learned that more isn’t always better. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

The Atkins diet = a low-carb + high-fat diet. It promotes weight loss by shifting the body's fuel source from carbohydrates to fat. The diet progresses through distinct phases, each with increasing carbohydrate allowances. Is it worth a try? @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One of my favorite foods to make is pasta! For a more nutrient-dense option, I like to swap traditional noodles for Banza noodles, which are higher in fiber and lower in carbs. I also make sure to use a sauce that's rich in protein and includes plenty of vegetables. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

My 24-hour food recall was accurate. It was easy to remember because I meal prep these meals in the beginning of the week. I was surprised that my diet was healthier than I thought, which I don't often give myself credit for. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Did you know that the body cannot produce essential amino acids on its own and must obtain them through dietary protein? Protein also helps build and maintain muscle, creates enzymes and signaling molecules, and promotes satiety and weight loss. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One key takeaway from reading the nutrition sources is to be cautious of over exaggerated headlines that can create distrust. Strong evidence=reliable information.
