There are a few places but I often hit up Cheeki Cherries near Cromwell (Dam Good PYO). I've seen the Rainer cherries there in Jan and early Feb :)

These cherries are the best! Last time I was in the South island in pyo season I picked an obscene amount of these, before and after a road trip around the South island they were that good.

Agreed! Pre Christmas cherries are so expensive but I can't help myself. I love doing pick your own in Jan / Feb.
