Cup type mushrooms collected rain, then froze overnight. In the morning, the garden stared up at me with many eyes.

Round, reddish-brown, cup-shaped mushrooms sit on frozen ground. Their edges are rimmed with frost crystals and there is ice inside the cups. One mushroom has a dark circle in the middle of the white ice, which makes it look like an eyeball staring upward with no eyelid.

Suckers sprouted around my Witch Hazel at the end of summer and I'm so glad I hadn't cut them yet, since they put on quite a show for fall. The leaves on the main tree turn orange, but the suckers had other ideas...

A sudden breeze turned my photo of a Katsura tree into more of a watercolor. I wanted to capture the remaining golden leaves against the blue sky, and I ended up with #AccidentalArt.

For #RedWed, a Pacific tree frog (aka chorus frog) tries to blend in on a chair cushion. Each summer, at least one frog lives on the deck during the day and leaves after sunset to hunt. You always have to check the chairs before you sit. 🐸
