Weather is stunning, roses are blooming, and we had some visitors on the back deck this morning.

Alright. This has been many hours of my day. But fun. My cheap little wireless tattoo machine has done so well! Now it's after 10pm. Time to stop. 😆

Much learning today.

1. Vaseline takes off ink if it's not embedded properly.

2. Stick the needle in properly to actually embed the ink 😆

Redid the deer, and did the dragon and unicorn about 3 times each before I got it right. Next stencils are drying.
Fake tattoo practice skin with five images. Three are completed with black outline: prancing unicorn, deer head and neck, and a small flying dragon. Two are still stencils waiting to be tattooed: calla lily, cat head with rose.

I have picked up yet another new hobby. I am learning how to use a tattoo machine. I have plenty of fake skins to practice on. It's a lot of fun. Here's some line work. I have had the machine about a week and used it about 4 times now.

I have been having fun making an app today. It's called Crochet Counter. I couldn't find a good free one that did everything I wanted. So now I've made one. It's not for sharing patterns - you see only your own (I have purchased all shown). It's just personal pattern storage and row counter.

I saw this post on Instagram and needed to check. I got a pearl necklace and bracelet from my grandmother. My eyes aren't good enough to see it IRL, but photographing them at 3x magnification and I can see the knots! Cool! #randomshit
Text post: DID YOU KNOW that proper pearl necklaces actually have knots between each pearl? This is done to stop the pearls from rubbing up against each other, potentially causing damage and discolouration to each bead, and also so that if the string breaks it's unlikely that any more than one or two pearls will fall off the string. Pearl necklaces (and bracelets for that matter) need re-stringing regularly, to make sure the string isn't stretched, frayed, or otherwise damaged, which would put the necklace at risk of breaking, and when they are re-stringed properly, new knots are always tied between each pearl. Re-learning the joy of commuting by bike, especially when part of the journey involves crossing the harbour on a ferry. This time of year I can catch the sunrise AND the sunset.

Spent the day dealing with the consequences of my own actions - tidying and organising all the art and craft shit I have all over the house and garage. Body so broken now and I'm not even done. Good 8 hours of lifting, carrying, sorting and contorting (some parts of garage hard to reach!).

I've just got one for today. A meercat I photographed at Auckland Zoo in 2024.

I don't do a lot of pink. Dragon is from 2018, Procreate on iPad. Bunnies are 2017, watercolour on 300gsm paper.

I'm unwell and left my work computer at work and wanna work from home tomorrow. Don't want work stuff on my computer. Dug up old Linux laptop, booted up... and it's now a long upgrade process from Mint 19 to Mint 20. Probably should have turned it on more frequently. Oops. 😆

Day 6 of #acoloradaypril is #purple.

Purple is my favourite colour so I have so many things to choose from for this. The dragon is from 2018 Procreate on iPad. Nail art from 2024 (hand drawn with gel polish), which sparked me doing so many different butterfly nails for a while!

Dragon a digital drawing from 2019. I think this was done in either Corel Draw or Medibang Paint on the computer with a Wacom Cintiq. The fish is acrylic ink on 300gsm watercolour paper.

Always a little late to these things so I'm gonna play catch-up over the next few days and post two colours a day for #acoloradaypril - this is day 1 #red

The mage was drawn back in 2015. The dragon is from 2018.
