He turns his head in the direction of the sound, smiling softly. "Just self-defense ones for the moment.. I need to get my head on straight. Um.. Don't.. don't leave."
He looks at Nullnuit with pleading eyes.

If things get REALLY bad, he asks Shadowheart to wipe part of his memory so he can sleep.

It's a last resort because they both hate doing it - she thinks it's wrong, he doesn't like not remembering, but he needs sleep.
