I think his standup stuff is funnier.

Technically, I can't put these images in my #PaintedSkies project as they weren't shot from home (I may need to change the rules!) - but I couldn't not shoot these wonderful clouds while I was out yesterday.

Blummin' 'eck.

Just phoned to cancel a household service plan that was suddenly renewing at £44/month.

As a "valued customer", they could offer me the same plan at £19/month. Why the heck wasn't that the renewal price then!!

"Valued" = cash cow, it would seem.

This spot was sheltered from the wind last night. But halfway to the first outcrop I could barely stand against the gusts. Off to the right, the sky and light were incredible, but there was just no way to get a composition safely.

This was rather pretty though :)

Looks like a promising sky for this evening, but blow me down (literally) it's windy. The trick will be finding a spot safe enough to get the tripod out.

Woop - thanks to BAV Media... as seen in @theguardian.com!

Last night's sunset from the #PeakDistrict was peaceful affair. Not much cloud around, but some very high wisps caught the light beautifully after the sun went down. The soft glow from the blue sky picked out the detail on the rocks, and in the heather and bilberry.

Ok, turns out it was a @spacex.extwitter.link Falcon 9 dumping fuel.

What was very cool (to me) was that you could see the plume dropping into the earth's shadow (2nd pic)

I swear I've just seen a rocket stage separation on my walk back to the car... Missed getting a shoy of that moment, but this beautiful Galaxy shape made it's way across the sky heading roughly SE

@spacex.extwitter.link? @esa.int? @nasawatch.bsky.social?

Was this any of you?

Couldn't resist a bit more of this today.

And I think I just heard my first curlew of the year. Love that sound. And the nightingales. And the grouse.

Love it up here.

One from last night's mooch in the Peak District, and realising how much I miss being out. There were some very lovely bursts of intense golden light at times which played wonderfully with the colours that were already in the landscape.

Doing a bit of this. Not done a lot of this around here for a while.

Good to be out mooching.

Couldn't agree more with this.

👏👏👏
Morning! Just thought I'd write something on why I no longer include photo locations in my posts. I think many of us have seen the damage to locations when they become the next big Facebook / Insta / TikTok thing, and that is not something I want to be the cause of.

These 3 months have flown, and I was wondering if I'd made the most of them.

But yesterday I got a birthday present from the consultant - another 3 months off! Time to make a bit more hay :)
Nice early Christmas present from my consultant. Good scan results mean 3 months break from chemo. Time (hopefully) for abut of normality and some nice family celebrations.

A bit of gorgeous colour and texture as the sun went down tonight.

A close run thing - the whole selection process was, to be fair, but my winner this week is this abstract ICM by @theworldofmattp.bsky.social

It grabbed my attention immediately, especially the hint of a face in the middle. Something unsettling, I think but in the best way.

Hi all - here's my top 4 for #ShareMondays2025 this week. I've tried to pick from a selection of genres...

@theworldofmattp.bsky.social
@stonesphotographs.bsky.social
@markhether18.bsky.social
@bulloch.photography

Winner to follow later :)

'AI Destroyed the Digital Artist' (from our BLFC show) is based on the 80's hit by The Buggles. This parody is a modern commentary on AI art. In the same vein as the original, it's a reflection on how technological advancements can disrupt established creative artforms with sad consequences.

My #sharemondays2025 choice is this photo by @kieranmetcalfephotography.co.uk, for the composition and peaceful feeling it conveys to me. Congratulations Kieran.

A view of Stormolla in the Lofoten Islands while we were passing through Tengelfjord. One of the areas I most looked forward to seeing and the light was just gorgeous.

Still at sea, but I've started going through the many thousand images I've taken. Most are snaps, but there's a few that I'm really pleased with.

This is Selsøyvik, just as we crossed the arctic circle. Seems so quintessentially Norwegian - at least to a tourist!
