I usyally have to adapt/ modify for my ELLs, but they love reading from lessons I have found from the @smithsonian @zinnedproject.bsky.social Library of Congress, even PBS! Sometimes my sts have heard a name in passing, but didn't know why they were famous etc- this is all background knowledge!

I teach EL Intermediate, and generally it is my sts' 2nd year in the US. Black History is US history, so we read stories throughout the year, but especially during February! So far we've read about Rihanna, Sam Barnes & the Golden 13, Mae Jemison, and the Scottsboro 9. #t2tchat #edusky
