Preprints let you:

✅ Share your work on your timeline
✅ Get feedback on work from a wider pool than peer review
✅ Establish precident on an idea/finding, which is useful if you want to share the work via a talk
✅ Provide access to a paper for a committee to review
✅ Provide a citable resource
Preprints don't get you jobs, grants or promotion. Sadly, that's just the reality.
