I formally oppose the RSB & recommend the Committee reject the Bill in its entirety. This Bill does not improve the quality our accountability of lawmaking in Aotearoa. Instead, it undermines Te Tiriti o Waitangi, privileges a narrow & ideologically driven view of law & governance, & risks placing significant constraints on future efforts to address social, environmental, & historical injustices. 1. The Bill undermines Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The Bill fails to recognise the constitutional foundation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. By embedding a fixed set of "regulatory principles" – such as individual liberty, freedom of contract, & minimal state interference – into the legal framework, the Bill elevates colonial legal values over the commitments made in Te Tiriti. It places those abstract principles above the need to uphold tino rangatiratanga & the Crown obligations to Māori. Laws that aim to advance Māori self-determination, restore land protect taonga, or rebalance longstanding inequities could be challenged or constrained by the Bill's framework. This is unacceptable. 2. Priviledging Private Interests Over Public & Collective Good. The Bill prioritises private property & economic rights at the expense of collective wellbeing. It would restrict Parliament's ability to pass strong public interest laws – including those that regulate industries, protect the environment, or address systemic inequities – by creating legal hurdles based on narrowly defined "regulatory standards." Such a framework is not neutral. It protects powerful commercial & property interests while limiting the ability of future governments to respond to public needs or honour Treaty commitments. 3. Risk of Judicial Overreach & Legal Uncertainty. The Bill will empower the courts to assess legislation for "inconsistency" with the proposed principles. This opens the door to judicial activism, legal challenges, & long delays in implementing needed reforms. *See first comment for the rest*

They campaigned on the last govt's wasteful spending, weaponising hatred against Ardern and Grant Robertson, yet they've come in and tanked the economy with weaponised austerity, making life harder for poorer families, pretty much all consumers and every smaller business in NZ as a result (business liquidations are the highest since the GFC) while BORROWING to CUT TAXES for landlords (the wealthiest win big here), and rushing through dodgy (and racist) legislation under urgency to benefit the sleazy deals done out the back door. People need to see this for what it is and get angry... I'd be pissed if I voted for these liars... they boasted about big donations pre-election and have consistently ignored advice since - most notably the IMF & IRD reports on taxation stated we need to tax wealth to boost tax revenue and they've done the complete opposite. They recently forced their own hand on cancelling the Pay Equity Claims of 300,000 people to balance their crooked budget, meanwhile this new 20% tax break will go down great with those mining companies - they'll be among the only ones able to invest in this economy.

My email reply: Hello Vanessa. That is disappointing, to say the least. Please explain how you, as my elected representative, are amplifying your constituent's voices. Surely, those people who voted for you are entitled to representation? More than 80% of the previous submissions were opposed to the bill, yet we were ignored. Please also explain how, as a working woman, you felt that the stripping out of Pay Equity Claims totalling $12.8 Billion from our lowest paid women in society to fund tax cuts for wealthy people (of which I am one) was an acceptable trade off. It was not, by the way, and is indefensible. It is quite disingenuous of you to state that you can only vote as a party and not individually. Because that is untrue. If you were being honest, you would have said that you will NOT vote against your party, even if your constituents want you to. Do not forget. You are an ELECTED representative of your constituents. You seem to have forgotten that. Regards
