"Phil is a hardworking family man. We’re simple people just trying to make a life for our kids,” said his wife, Kristen Bellis. “We have five kids, three older and two at home. A teenager and a four-year-old who’s just starting school this year. We have a granddaughter on the way in December.”

“Then in 2001, my BFF donated her kidney to me,” Rachel explained. “I was blessed with 23 years of having a normal life.”
During that time, Rachel successfully battled colon cancer. Now, she’s been in remission for five years. Rachel is dealing with kidney failure once again and back on dialysis.

“I was diagnosed with kidney disease when I was 11 years old,” she wrote. “I went on dialysis when I was 17 years old.”
Rachel received a kidney from a deceased donor when she was 18. That kidney lasted about eight years.
